Set realistic, short-term goals.
Be very specific. Rather than setting a vague goal to “exercise more,” set a specific goal to exercise a certain number of days each week. Formulate a plan. For example, aim to exercise three days per week.
Rather than setting a goal to be able to run 10 miles within a year, set a short-term goal to run one mile in your first month. These minor accomplishments can help you stay motivated.
